Information for Publishers wishing to attend Prose in the Park

Tent space for publishers and bookstores is available at the Prose in the Park Literary Festival and Book Fair, Parkdale Park, Ottawa on June 10, 2017 from 11 am to 6 pm.

Prose in the Park (PiP) is planned on the highly successful model of Word on the Street in Toronto. It is a tented event with more than 150 local and other Canadian authors, up to 15 publishers and with 10 panels. In PiP's  first two years, a total of 2200 people attended the event.  In 2017, we hope to attract 2000 people. It is an excellent opportunity for publishers to gain visibility and support their authors on the festival's panels in Canada's third largest English and French language book market.

In addition to publishers, 60 English  and 24 French independent authors will also be selling their books at Prose in the Park in 2017.

Space is limited. Publishers who participated last year or who had pro-actively sought to register were given the option of pre-registering this year. Seven publishers have already exercised that option.We are now opening up registration to all publishers (and bookstores) for the remaining six half-tent spots. The costs for a half-tent spot is $50 and for a full tent $100. We will register publishers on a first-come, first-served basis. Payment for registration is on a non-refundable basis.

First, send us an e-mail at proseintheparkottawa@gmail.com, with your preferred tent spot (indicate four possibilities).  See map below for the tents available to publishers. After we confirm your registration and  tent spot, you can proceed to pay for it following the instructions below.

You can pay by cheque made out to "OIW" or "Ottawa Independent Writers" (both are fine). Mail your cheque to Ottawa Independent Writers, P.O. Box 39016, Ottawa ON K1H 1A1. Don't forget to put a small note in the envelope to indicate what the payment is for. If you prefer, you may pay securely by credit card by calling Bill Horne, the Prose in the Park Financial Director at (613) 837-2166.  Visa is preferred, (we pay lower fees) but MasterCard, Amex and Discover are also accepted. We will need your card number, expiry date, and CCV three digit number, as well as the amount and nature of the payment. For Amex, MasterCard and Discover payments, we also need your postal code. For all payment issues, contact Bill Horne by email at wghorne@roers.com or by phone at (613) 837-2166. Credit card payments should all be made by phone, not by email.
